Your music is so great! Are you playing live anytime soon?
Thank you! Well, lately I’ve only played a few impromptu gigs around Cincinnati. However, I plan on booking as many shows as I can once I’m settled in Chicago.
What is your most potent memory?
I wish I had one that stood out, but almost all of my memories are vivid and intoxicating. That’s partially why I’m such a sucker for nostalgia. It’s my favorite drug. I’ll list one of my memories that especially stand out:
I remember, 2 years ago, sitting at the bar in my favorite cafe — Highlands — and couldn’t tell when girls were kind of interested in me.
I was at the bar, drinking a glass of bourbon, with my head on my hand smoking a cigarette. I was in an awful, terrible mood, and wanted nothing to do with anyone. A cute girl came up and sat at the bar next to me, and ordered a drink. After a few moments of quiet, she turned towards me and said “Can I buy you a drink?” — I said “Sure.” She ordered another bourbon for me, and I drank it without looking at her or saying a word to her. She kept looking at me, and I just thought she thought I looked strange (which I often do) and ignored her. She finally asked me what my name was, and I told her. She said I was cute. I said “Oh, thanks” and walked outside for some fresh air, then came back in and sat a table where some of my friends were sitting. They informed me she was trying to start a conversation with me.
