Colin Weaver - Every Morning
So, a few weeks back I had the opportunity to record in a local studio in town called Ultrasuede. A lot of my favorite local bands have recorded there, and their rates were pretty cheap, so I jumped on it. This song is the result. I had a fucking blast. They were kind enough to let me use their instruments (in fact, the only instrument of mine in this song is my guitar, but the amps, drums, keys, etc. were all theirs). I took a risk recording this song — I had written it the night before in about 30 minutes and hadn’t written out the drums, bass, lead guitar, and piano parts ahead of time so I had to write them in the studio. Everything was more or less done in one take (hence the mistakes), but I’m totally happy with it. It’s weird hearing myself so polished. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy. The engineer gave me the raw .wav files and I mixed the song at home (I’m a control freak with my music). Here are the lyrics:
I’m so tired
I can’t even sleep
and every day this week
I’ve felt so weak
I’m so tired
I’m hanging from the wire
I tried to walk across
but I got hurt of course
and every morning, yeah
feels like every evening, yeah
and I’m losing track
of what day I’m at
and I could beat a dead horse
but my voice is just too hoarse
I try to talk you into coming back
but you won’t cut me any slack
I’m so sick
like a mule that don’t kick
like a death that isn’t quick
a man that lost but won’t quit
chorus
I’ll be here
in the coming years
sucking down rum
you’ll never know
the hurt I’ve tolled
or the sum
of what’s wasted
chorus…
